Pe'ahi Jaws Surf Break
Big waves can form around the North coast of Maui in January.
If you will go to the laid back surf orientated north coast of Maui, always keep an eye open for people who talk about “Jaws”.
These big waves on the northern coast of Maui are called “Jaws” . They are pretty rare and occur just a few times every year.
As soon as they start coming in, many surfer will rush to the sport on my Map, where they will surf the notoriously dangerous big wave.
Don't Waste Your Time
If the Jaws are not present, nobody will be on the view point, so only go when the Jaws really are present, otherwise it's just a waste of time.
Tip on the side:
If you are in search for an offroad path, this street is great.
Make sure you pack your things as fast as possible and drive to the spot. This will be a one in a lifetime experience to see the Pro-Surfers ride the waves.
Be aware that the road to the spot on the Map is very uncomfortable and even with a Jeep a nightmare. Nevertheless if you get the opportunity to see that make sure you get there somehow.
The Road was blocked for reasons I don't know.
Now the road is open again (2015).
