The Lost Waterfalls
One of the major activities you can do in Boquete is the trail to the Lost Waterfalls. An advanced hike especially if it's rainy. The slippery and sometimes steep trail leads to three spectacular Waterfalls.
How to get there
You can book a trip in town or via Trip Advisor (Button Below). But if you have a rental car, you can do this trip easily on your own. You go up the mountain on a narrow road. After passing the Cascada De San Ramon Waterfall (you can pull over to take pictures), drive further until you reach a fork and go right. Don't go straight this is just the Cascada Encondida
Don't Fall For The Cascada Encondida Waterfall.
This is an unspectacular waterfall where you have to pay 3$ to go up. The hike is simple but certainly not why you drive up there.
After not falling for Cascada Encondida and going right at the fork you will reach the beginning of the trail at a steep dirt road (see picture). There are no parking spots, you just par alongside the road. Insider Tip: Go in the morning so you have a good parking spot alongside the narrow road with not many alternative parking spots. We went here at 10AM on a rainy day.
Start Of a trail?
After you get out of your car, you naturally look for a enterance house. But you will not find one here. There is only a sign which states the fee of entry is 7$. Don't get discouraged, the entry house where you have to pay the 7$ is another 15min above the "Parking Spot", which is reachable with the first trail.
On top of the first trail there is a little entry house where you have to pay 7$.
There supposed to be a restaurant as well, but other than a wooden house with looked doors. Maybe the are open sometimes.
So there are three Waterfalls. The first one is reachable in 15min and is moderate to get to. The second one is also for more or less advanced hikers or physically fit people, especially if wet. Should be reachable in another 10 min. And the third waterfall is hard to get to. The third one can be viewed from the top and from the bottom. Be careful on the top so you don't fall of (See Red Dot on the Trail Map).
Slippery When Wet
We did only the first waterfall because it was very slippery and we had only sneakers.
All In All a great experience especially if you enjoy the drive up the road and are able and willing to hike an advanced hike. Get rewarded with spectacular Waterfalls.
